Origin Story.
Galloway Outpost didn’t start in a studio or a meeting room. It started out in the weather, on forest tracks, coastal paths, and the quiet miles where you walk to clear your head. It came from days when the rain didn’t let up, when the sky sat low and heavy, and when the only thing that made sense was being outdoors. Photography, field notes, and a need for gear that could handle real Scottish conditions slowly shaped themselves into a brand. No rush. No hype. Just a steady build rooted in the grit and quiet strength of southwest Scotland.
The Maker.
I’m Tom, photographer, hillwalker, single dad of four, and the one building Galloway Outpost piece by piece. Most of my life has been spent outdoors in the rain, wind, and moody light that makes this place what it is. I design the way I shoot: rugged, intentional, and stripped back to what matters. No gloss. No shortcuts. Just real gear built from real experience.
The Landscape.
Dumfries and Galloway is the backbone of this brand. The dark forests, rough trails, rolling hills, old stone, and shifting skies, they’re all part of the Outpost’s DNA. Every colour, every fabric, every idea comes from being out in this weather and learning what actually holds up. This place is quiet, tough, and full of character, and I want every product to carry that same rugged soul.
Build Philosophy.
Galloway Outpost is built slowly, deliberately, and out in real weather. Nothing here is rushed or mass‑produced. Every idea starts on the trail or behind the camera, with a need that comes from actually being outdoors. Fabrics get tested in rain, wind, and cold. Colours are pulled straight from forests, coastlines, and moody skies. Designs are stripped back to what works and what lasts. This brand isn’t chasing trends or trying to look loud. It’s built for people who value durability, simplicity, and gear that feels lived‑in from day one. Every piece is made to earn its place in your kit, not just sit in a wardrobe. Galloway Outpost grows at the pace of real life, shaped by the landscape, the weather, and the belief that good things take time.
Where It's Going.
This is still the early build. The first apparel pieces, the carry gear, the prints, the Field Notes, they’re the foundation. The goal is to grow Galloway Outpost into a full outdoor brand with real backbone: durable clothing, modular carry systems, rugged accessories, and stories from the landscape. It’ll grow slowly, the same way it started, intentionally, honestly, and shaped by the weather.
Why It Matters.
Galloway Outpost is about making something that lasts, for my kids, for the landscape, for anyone who feels at home in the wild.
